Siren Rock Brewing Company
Take a tour of Rockwall’s very own Siren Rock Brewing Company. The tours are hosted every Saturday at 3:00 pm. Beer lovers will have a great time tasting all of the different beers and learning all about the microbrewery brewery. Woodcreek offers a wide variety of different types of beers, from lagers to wheat, IPA’s and much more. Tours and tastings aren’t the only events this microbrewery hosts – every Thursday is game night at the brewery, where beer lovers can mingle, drink and play cornhole and giant Jenga. As more and more craft breweries and wineries flock to Rockwall County and its surrounding communities, one name has stood as a constant presence at the center of the rapidly changing industry.
Siren Rock Brewing Company, founded by Brad Bramblett and others in his garage and in the neighborhood of the same name, now has the honor of remaining Rockwall County’s oldest craft brewery. But Bramblett said that it wasn’t always so easy for the upstart business. Since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds. According to Bramblett, which still operates out of a relatively small facility along Interstate 30, now boasts distribution in nearly every major city in Texas and in hundreds of DFW bars and restaurants. Bramblett said even simply obtaining the rights to distribute helped make the brewery what it is today. Out of maybe 120 breweries in North Texas, only 20 or so have distribution rights, while checking the specific gravity on a giant vat holding a sloshing mixture of barley, wheat and water. That was really a big deal and what helped to starting draw people to Woodcreek.
Without such distribution rights, most breweries are restricted to serving their beer in-house, but a quick trip to any Rockwall grocery store can turn up six-packs of Woodcreek’s standard offerings on the shelf or in coolers. Rather than resting on its laurels, however, Bramblett says Woodcreek is committed to remaining on the cutting edge of craft brewing technology, and is constantly looking for new ways to innovate.Bramblett added that Woodcreek even makes extensive use of ATP meters and spectrophotometers to maintain a level of consistency and quality that his customers have come to expect. Even Woodcreek’s vanilla porter offering, a sweeter, dark beer, incorporates genuine vanilla beans, which Bramblett said cost more than the rest of the beer itself to produce. As Rockwall’s repertoire of craft breweries expands – Hemisphere is on the same block as Woodcreek, and Siren Rock Brewery is slated to open near downtown in the next year – Bramblett said Woodcreek has no need to feel threatened by the friendly competition, and instead takes a “rising tides raise all ships” approach. Woodcreek can be found at 1400 Interstate 30 in Rockwall, and has an open taproom from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and from 2 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays.
